Cookies Policy
This cookies policy explains how Senha Ltd trading as myBursary (“we”, “our” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on mybursary.org and the myBursary platform. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies serve different purposes: some are essential to make a site work, others remember your preferences, and others help site operators understand how the site is being used.
Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which can hold data in your browser without using a cookie file. Where we refer to “cookies” in this policy, we mean these technologies too.
Cookies we use
We use a small number of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies. The cookies we set fall into three categories:
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking the site. No consent is required for strictly necessary cookies under UK law.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sessionid |
Keeps you logged in between page loads. Without this cookie, you would need to re-authenticate on every page. | Session (deleted when you close your browser, or after two weeks of inactivity) |
csrftoken |
Protects forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. This is a standard web security measure. | 1 year |
Functional cookies
Functional cookies remember choices or settings you have made to improve your experience. They are not essential to the platform’s core operation but improve convenience.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
messages |
Stores one-time notification messages (for example, a confirmation after completing a form step) so they can be shown on the next page load and then cleared. | Session |
Analytics cookies
We may use analytics tools to understand, in aggregate, how the platform is used — for example, which pages are visited most often, where users encounter errors, or how long typical sessions last. This helps us improve the platform.
Where analytics tools set cookies or collect data, we configure them to anonymise or aggregate data where possible, and we do not share identifiable information with analytics providers for their own purposes.
If we introduce analytics cookies beyond those used for internal platform performance monitoring, we will update this policy to describe them.
No advertising cookies
We do not use cookies for advertising. We do not allow any third-party advertising networks to place cookies on myBursary or to track users of the platform for advertising purposes. We will never sell data derived from cookie activity to third parties for their own marketing use.
Managing your cookies
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies. The process varies by browser:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Be aware that blocking or deleting cookies will affect the platform’s ability to
function. If you delete the sessionid cookie, you will be logged out. If you
block cookies entirely, you will not be able to log in.
For more information about cookies and how to manage them, the ICO provides guidance at ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies/.
