About myBursary

"The 16–19 Bursary Fund reaches students who need it most — but the admin burden of running it falls entirely on schools."

myBursary exists to change that. We build purpose-built software that helps schools and colleges run their bursary process with less effort, fewer errors, and a clear audit trail — so the fund reaches more students, faster.

The problem

Bursary admin is harder than it should be.

Each year, schools and colleges in England distribute hundreds of millions of pounds through the 16–19 Bursary Fund — funding that can make the difference between a student staying in education or dropping out. The Department for Education sets the rules; institutions manage the rest.

In practice, that means spreadsheets, paper forms, emailed evidence, shared drives, and manual cross-referencing against DfE guidance. Teams spend hours on admin that should take minutes. Evidence gets lost or stored inconsistently. Audit trails are thin. And students wait longer than they should for decisions about funding they rely on.

The problem is not a lack of effort. It is a lack of the right tools.

Our approach

Purpose-built, not adapted.

myBursary is not a generic forms tool repurposed for bursaries, nor a case management system adapted from a different sector. It is designed from first principles around the way the 16–19 Bursary Fund actually works — the evidence requirements, the assessment process, the categories of award, and the documentation schools need for a DfE audit.

Students get a clear, guided application experience that walks them through what is needed and why. Staff get a single view of every application, with structured evidence, clear statuses, and the audit trail already in place. Leadership gets visibility without having to ask for it.

For most providers, the platform sits comfortably within the 5% administration allowance the DfE permits institutions to draw from the bursary fund — meaning myBursary can typically be funded from the fund itself.

The company

Senha Ltd.

myBursary is operated by Senha Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We are a small, focused team. We do not build general-purpose software — we build one product, well, for one sector.

We believe that public funding works better when the people administering it have tools that match the complexity of the task. Getting bursary admin right is not just a compliance exercise — it is how students who need support actually receive it.

If you have questions about the platform, want to see it in action, or want to discuss whether it is right for your institution, we would be glad to hear from you.
